Bland this is not! A carefully-curated 16th-century country house at the foot of the Black Mountains with views of Tretower Court and Castle

Inside find an almost museum-like display of furniture, paintings and vintage fabrics collected by Clair - a self-professed 'skip hag'. Nothing, if she could help it, was bought new, and the result is quirky, fun, interesting. There's plenty of space for everybody to gather around the stone fireplace and another seating area upstairs with TV, PlayStation and books. Escapees can take an annexe, The Cwtch, just the ticket for two.

The kitchen is roomy, great for sharing the cooking and you'll find welcoming Welsh cakes, teas and good coffee. Bedrooms dazzle with their bold wallpaper, vintage throws and art deco sinks in various colours - chocolates wait on the pillows. Walkers and bikers will adore the hot/cold outdoor spray tap, boot room and secure storage for bikes.

The Brecon Beacons National Park is your playground for stunning walks and views. Return to a safely-walled garden for lawn games, barbecue, fire pit and wonderful dark skies

One separate bedroom, bathroom & kitchenette are accessible by wheelchair
