Efail-Isaf – “Smithy Cottage” – sleeps 6 and dates back many hundreds of years and was a working blacksmith’s shop until the 20th century. The Farr family lived in this property since 1954 and the family run campsite over the lane was started by Eric and Olive Farr, the parents of the current owner Martyn Farr, in 1964.

A charming traditional country cottage completely refurbished in 2013. Enjoys a very well equipped open plan kitchen, including a Range Master cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. A wide archway opens directly to the dining area, equipped with a feature fireplace, a wood burner, TV, an oak table and 6 chairs. Glorious views. The downstairs sitting room has a very comfortable suite, an electric coal effect fire, TV and DVD. Wi-Fi. There is also a downstairs cloakroom with toilet and hand basin. Upstairs is reached via a traditional carpeted stone staircase. Beautiful views from all bedrooms. Master bedroom 1: A very spacious room with a king-sized bed, en-suite shower room including toilet and a small hand basin. Bedroom 2: Equipped with a double bed and ample storage space for clothes. Bedroom 3: A twin bedded room. The family bathroom is fitted with a bath, separate shower cubicle, heated towel rail, toilet and hand basin.

Efail Bach: A pretty traditional stone cottage adjoining Efail-Isaf. Sleeps 2 people

Fitted kitchen with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge and freezer, washing machine, small breakfast table and 2 chairs. Pretty sitting room/lounge with superb views across the valley, well equipped with TV, DVD, wi-fi and an electric coal effect fire. Upstairs the bedroom has a double bed and fabulous views. Bathroom fitted with a bath, a large shower cubicle, toilet and hand wash basin.

The cottage enjoys a lovely long private garden. There is a sunny patio area directly in front of the house and a second at the far end of the garden with table, chairs and a BBQ. Of a summer’s evening, this is an idyllic setting!

Rental: Saturday to Saturday but short breaks may be available. Dogs by arrangement.

There are walks to suit everyone with well finger-posted paths leading directly out into the countryside. One mile down a green lane is Tretower Court and Castle a superb fortified medieval manor house regularly used on film sets. Less than half a mile distant is the Beacons Way. This is a very special area and, as programmes such as BBC “Sky At Night” have pronounced, is widely acclaimed as one of the finest “dark sky” sites in the British Isles.
