Talgarth Mill, Talgarth

  • slide

Talgarth Mill once formed the beating heart of the area, grinding corn for local farmers, until it fell into disrepair in the 1940s. Today, Talgarth Mill is a Grade II listed building and is the only working watermill in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. The Mill's waterwheel is the star attraction. It is best viewed from the riverside garden. visitors are able to watch the water’s journey down the ‘leat’ and over the wheel, where it cascades into the River Ennig, flowing past the Mill and through the town. The sounds of the river combined with the gently turning water wheel creates an amazing sensory experience.

When visiting Talgarth Mill, watch water on its journey to the wheel and witness as water power turn grain into flour.  Listen to our millers and guides explain the history of the mill and how we are giving a traditional piece of machinery a new lease of life on a 45 minute tour of the mill. Children are welcome on tours and will have the opportunity  to winnow the grain themselves.
