| About | Ellie paints gardens, partly real but also in part, imaginary. Gardens have long been represented in both Eastern and Western art as an earthly paradise, offering shelter, safety, fertility, peace, pleasure and a refuge from life's harsher moments. Ellie's paintings follow in this tradition, presenting the garden as a theatre for many of life's events, especially scenes of joy, surprise, intimacy and communication with nature. She works exclusively in watercolour, including drybrush watercolour, and shows her work nationally and locally, including Oriel CRiC, and the Open Exhibitions of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in London and the Royal West of England Academy. |
