About Kay Leverton is an etched scraperboard and mixed media artist. She spent some years working in pastels but found that her true passion was working with scraperboard and creating beautiful, intricate images which have earned her a large following. Describing her process, she says: “To scratch away the black ink and reveal the creamy chalk beneath is always a delight tinged with mild anxiety at times. A few strokes/cuts in the wrong place and it usually means you have to start again. I live close to the Brecon Beacons National Park and nature is my muse in all her faces and moods. Lots of the plants I draw are in my own garden, which is my other passion. I celebrate wildlife in my art as a thank you for their existence, hoping that we can all survive in harmony.”
