Hand made ceramic serving dish by Michael Parry measuring 5 x 15 x 39cm
About | Michael Parry is developing his own work from his studio space in Wales while continuing to work as a production thrower for a small Bristol based pottery company. He likes to make functional pieces, pots to be used and hopefully appreciated in everyday rituals. Most of his work is thrown on the wheel, some using slabs. He aims to leave or make marks which highlight the qualities of the clay in its soft state and to capture moments of the process. They are then decorated using coloured slips. The slips are applied by either dipping. Pouring, brushing and trailing or a combination of these techniques. After a bisque firing the work is glazed and fired to mid stoneware temp. 1220C in an electric kiln |
