Entries to the Open Art competition have once again exceeded expectation with selected work ranging from the traditional to the contemporary. Oil paintings, watercolours, digital and multimedia pieces, textiles, pastels, charcoal and printmaking all hang cheek by jowl in an exciting exhibition of selected work starting during the Crickhowell Open Studios Weekend 25 – 27 May and continuing till mid-July.
Rebecca Roper was the Overall winner with her mixed media piece entitled From Sharpitor. The Tower Gallery Prize was awarded to Roger Sampson for hiSelfportrait in oil, the printmakers prize went to Kathleen Littler for her wood engraving Coastpath and the digital category award went to Stuart Lloyd for Girl in the Garden. Wildlife artist Tracey-Anne Sitch was the winner of the Watercolour Prize and the Young Artist category winner was Olivia Owen. Embroidery artist Victoria Matthewson's How Dare the Robin Sing received most votes from visitors to win the Visitors' Choice Prize.
