Black Mountains Gliding Club
Talgarth airfield is home to a small and very active gliding club, 970 feet above sea level in the stunning scenery of the Black Mountains.
With soarable conditions on most days, our average flight times are amongst the longest in the UK. For the experienced pilot we can offer ridge runs and wave flying in almost any wind direction and cross country options with few airspace restrictions. For the less experienced, we also offer training at all levels, from thermal to advanced wave and hill soaring. For pre solo pilots, longer training flights allow flying skills to develop more quickly, and consolidate progress. All trial lesson vouchers are valid for a period of 12 months from purchase. We include temporary membership for three months from the date of flight, and it allows the voucher holder additional instructional flights at club rates.
Additionally we offer fixed price courses for three, four or five days. These courses are an excellent holiday activity, and will develop your flying skills – perhaps a new sport for life at Talgarth, or maybe a gateway into an aviation career – who knows?
Annual club membership is also available. Please visit our website for further information, and contact details for purchasing any of these options.
