The group carries out many activities in their managed sites to maintain healthy & productive woodlands with the aim of achieving a variety of different trees of different ages to increase biodiversity:

Thinning – removing trees with poor form or growth, this allows better trees to grow to their potential.
Coppicing hazel – this produces many new stems for making hurdles.
Greenwood crafts – hurdles, wood turning in 2013
Charcoal making – 3 small kilns set up in the woodlands
Producing firewood – Hakki Pilke wood processor makes it a lot quicker.
Removing invasive species – cherry laurel from Canalside
Creating habitat – otter holt a speciality.
Monitoring biodiversity – projects for DofE
Tree planting – enrichment to increase the variety of species
